In the Museum (With a Tribute to Lawrence Weiner)

Save the date and join us this 1st ofJuly in Ibiza, for a special solo exhibition from acclaimed artist Ian Wallace. In the Museum (With a Tribute to Lawrence Weiner), the exhibition will count with a selection of works that pays tribute to the late Lawrence Weiner, a friend and respected colleague of Wallace. His “in the museum” series combines abstract paintings on canvas with photographic images of museum environments.
Wallace’s images highlight how important the physical support of museums can be in relation to the concept of the institution of art, paralleling Weiner’s own recognition of this very support in his conceptual installations.
Ian Wallace (b.1943, Shoreham, England) lives and works in Vancouver, Canada. Wallace has presented numerous international solo exhibitions, including at the Rennie Collection at Wing Sang, Vancouver (2017); National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa (2015); Vancouver Art Gallery (2012, 1988–9, 1979); The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery, Toronto (2010); Kunsthalle Zurich (2008), Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art, Rotterdam (2008), and Kunstverein für die Rheinlande und Westfalen, Dusseldorf (2008); Sprengel Museum, Hannover (1998); Presentation House Gallery, North Vancouver (1995), and Staatliche Kunstsammlungen, Dresden (1995–1998).
