SUBLIME: Experiences and Perceptions in contemporary Sculpture

Pilar Parra & Romero tiene el placer de presentar una exposición colectiva de escultura la cual dará lugar a diversos significados y cuestiones de cómo una escultura, y particularmente un objeto abstracto, pueden contener diversas experiencias, opiniones o percepciones; siendo la superficie del objeto el vehículo donde la memoria y la narrativa aparecen desde la experiencia que ocurre a través de diversos espacios y épocas.
La otra intención de esta exposición es destacar la práctica de la escultura que acentúe/enfatice la acción de hacer cosas y la materialidad del objeto: superficies atractivas hechas de materiales industriales como acero, cerámica, plexiglás, plástico, cinta o tela; fabricado de chapa pintada con colores brillantes, o de la apropiación de objetos con calidades formales.
Aunque todos los artistas de la exposición han llegado/accedido de un modo distinto a la escultura, todos ellos comparten un punto común: las esculturas e instalaciones que hacen son contingentes. Nacieron de distintos contenidos, y tienen diversas épocas y espacios. Otro punto común es la idea de abstracción y superficie, y cómo se utiliza como contenedor de experiencias fenomenológicas: la curva, los rectángulos, las líneas son los elementos inextricables unidos a un momento muy vivo.
Pilar Parra & Romero is please to present a collective sculpture show that will draw different meanings and questions of how an sculpture object, and in particular an apparently abstract object, can content different experiences and perceptions; being the surface of the object a vehicle where memory and narrative appear from experiences that occur through different spaces and times.
Other intention of this show is to point out a sculpture practice which emphasizes both the action of making things and the materiality of the object: appealing surfaces made from industrial materials –steel, plexiglass, perpex, plastic, tape, fabric-; made from plywood painted with bright colours, or the appropriation of objects that have formal qualities.
Although all of the artists of the show have different approaches to sculpture all of them share a common point, which is that the sculptures and installations they make are contingent. They were born from different contents, and they bear different times and spaces. Other common point is the idea of abstraction and surface, how you use it as container of phenomenological experiences: the curve, the rectangles, the lines are elements that are inextricable attached to a very vivid moment.
