PERMANENT PRODUCTION OF EXCESS (RED, GREEN, BLUE)
La galería Parra & Romero se complace en presentar Permanent Production of Excess (Red, Green, Blue), la primera exposición individual del artista Stefan Brüggemann (1975, Méjico) en Espana.
Stefan Brüggemann trabaja el lenguaje con un enfoque particular del texto, combinando un proceso formal del concepto con una actitud crítica radical. Como la reflexión perfecta de un mundo, el trabajo de Stefan Brüggemann, relata los hechos que nos rodean, siguiendo con las construcciones del negativismo, en sus aspectos más nihilistas que románticos; formas que implican el fin de los mitos y creencias, incluyendo los del acto de creación. Su trabajo, a veces, se refiere brutalmente a los desenganos de nuestra sociedad, dejando a los individuos frente a ellos mismos. La obra de Brüggemann explora una gran variedad de medios, incluyendo instalación, escultura, vídeo, pintura, dibujo o fotografía.
En Permanent Producion of Excess (Red, Green, Blue), Stefan reescribe la teoría del color de Joseph Albers, donde el color es visto a través de la experiencia, de aquí el uso del rojo, verde y azul, los tres colores que hacen posible la televisión. Para Albers, el color ha de ser entendido en su entorno, siendo prácticamente imposible ver un solo color por si mismo. Está teoría, con origen en la Bauhaus, fue principalmente impartida por Johannes Itten, quién desarrolló un diagrama de 12 colores con siete diferentes sombras. Stefan, confronta esta teoría con la experiencia e influencia actual que vivimos, a través de los medios de comunicación y en concreto a través de la televisión. Conceptual Decoration, es una de las obras de esta exposición, que consiste en un papel-tapiz que cubre toda la sala del primer piso de la galería, con la leyenda, Conceptual Decoration, repetida infinitamente en tres colores diferentes, rojo, verde y azul. Aquí el artista se sirve de la decadencia burguesa de la decoración de superficie para subrayar el concepto. La pieza desarrolla un juego verbal entre el significado y representación, poniendo lo visual y lo mental en crisis existencial.
I't not an circle, it's not a cero, it's not an O (strange ways, here we come), se compone de tres círculos de neón que están realizados también en los colores rojo, verde y azul, recordando los limites de la perfección tecnológica, donde un círculo realizado en este material nunca será totalmente perfecto, al tener que dividirse en dos puntos para su conexión eléctrica y volviendo a los fundamentos conceptuales, donde el medio es el mensaje.
Make Me son pinturas realizadas directamente sobre la pared de la galería con spray de color negro. En la superficie del cuadro se repiten tres frases: Make me feel, Make me see, Make me think, utilizando la caligrafía del artista.

Stefan Brüggemann works on the language with a particular approach to the text, combining a formal process of the concept with a radical and critical attitude. As the perfect reflexion of a world, Stefan Brüggemann's work relates to the facts that surround us, following the construction of the negativism, focusing more in the nihilist than the romantic aspects and including shapes that involve the end of the myths, beliefs and the act of the creation. His work, sometimes, refers brutally to our society disillusion, letting people facing themselves.
Brüggemann's work explores a wide diversity of medias, including installation, sculpture, painting, video, drawing or photography.
In Permanent Producion of Excess (Red, Green, Blue), Stefan rewrites Joseph Albers' colour theory, in which the colour is perceived through the experience, therefore the use of red, green and blue which are the three colours that make television possible. For Albers, the colour has to be understood in its surroundings, as it is almost impossible to see one unique color alone. The origin of this theory came from the Bauhaus and has been principally lectured by Johannes Itten, who developed a diagram with 12 colours and seven different shapes.
Stefan confronts this theory with the actual experiences and influences of everyday life, through mass media and concretely through television. Conceptual Decoration is one of the pieces of this exhibition and consists in wallpaper that covers the galleries entire first floor, with the legend, conceptual decoration, repeated infinitely in red, green and blue. Here the artist uses the bourgeois decadency of the surface decoration to underline the concept. The piece develops a verbal game between the meaning and the representation, putting the visual and the mental in existential crisis.
I´t not an circle, it´s not a cero, it´s not an O (strange ways, here we come); it is composed by three neon circles produced also in red, green and blue. This reminds us of the limitation of technological perfection in which a circle created with this material will never be completely perfect because it has to be divided in two points for its electrical connection and returning to the conceptual fundaments, where media is the message.
Make Me are paintings manufactured directly on the gallery walls with black spray. On the canvas are repeated three sentences: Make me feel, Make me see, Make me think, using the artist's calligraphy.
