Soft machos (Group Show):Gonzalo Lebrija, Fernando Palomar, Cristián Silva and Luis Miguel Suro.
Son cuatro artistas de Guadalajara de la misma generación que comenzaron sus carreras a mediados de los 90. Son artistas inmersos en la “revolución” artística que denuncia el absurdo del mercado del arte, la sociedad de consumo y la desigualdad social; también cuestionan e interrogan la ubicación del arte en la sociedad, el espacio y la materialidad estática de la obra, y el espacio físico e intelectual del espectador; se preguntan qué es público y qué es privado; analizan, distorsionan y humorizan lo cotidiano, lo banal, lo efímero; juegan con el objeto, lo cambian de escala, de categoría estética…
Todo esto lo realizan con un lenguaje muy sutil, en el que se ensalza la ambigüedad y el componente poético de la creación en su máxima expresión, ya que sus obras necesitan de la acción del espectador (tanto física como intelectual) y del entorno para que tengan sentido.
La presente muestra titulada "Soft Machos" reúne fotografías, grabados, objetos, videos y pinturas recientes de Gonzalo Lebrija (Ciudad de México, 1972), Fernando Palomar (Guadalajara, 1967), Cristián Silva (Santiago de Chile, 1969) y Luis Miguel Suro (Guadalajara, 1972).
"There are four artists from Guadalajara in the same generation who began their careers in the mid-90s. Artists are immersed in the "revolution" of art that denounces the absurdity of the art market, the consumer society and social inequality; also questioned and question the location of art in society, space and static materiality of the work, and the physical and intellectual of the spectator; wonder what is public and what is private; analyzed, distort and humanizing everyday, the banal, the ephemeral; play with the object, thereby changing the scale, aesthetics category ...
All this is done with a very subtle language, which extols the ambiguity and poetic component of the development in its fullest expression, and that their works require the action of the viewer (both physical and intellectual) and the environment so that they make sense.
This exhibition "Soft Machos" collects photographs, prints, objects, paintings and videos of recent Gonzalo Lebrija (Mexico City, 1972), Fernando Palomar (Guadalajara, 1967), Cristian Silva (Santiago, Chile, 1969) and Luis Miguel Suro (Guadalajara, 1972). Based on the local stereotype of the "macho in Jalisco (the quintessence of machismo universal).
